Descripción de Steiner School Part 1:
Steiner School is a portrait of the well known Holywood school in N.Ireland, based on the progressive ideas of Rudolf Steiner. The ethos aims to nurture the whole child, both academically and spiritually and to develop the individual talents, which every child possesses. In the words of one teacher at the school, "we will develop their abilities so that when they become young adults, they can go out and create society as they want to create it, not as we want them to be". At a time of national debate around the pressures on 'childhood' and at a point when school and university systems are increasingly 'industry-focused', this interesting film offers a child-centred view of education, which seems as radical now as it did in the 1920s.
