At least 34 commuters were killed when a Skardu-bound bus met an accident by falling from the mountainous road into Indus River on Karokoram Highway near Jaglot on Thursday morning. The most of deceased are soldiers. The booking manager of bus service for Skardu in Rawalpindi told the ill-fated bus left for Skardu in the afternoon on August 4, adding these buses usually traversed their 800 km way to Skardu in 22 hours; but, it was late owing to the ongoing extension work on Karakoram Highway. According to the booking manager, there were 27 soldiers, five civilians and three staffs on board, when the bus met the accident at Wednesday-Thursday night in Malopa near Jaglot with only one confirmed survivor—a bus helper. The accident site is nearly 650 km away from Rawalpindi and at a distance of 150 km from Skardu Malik Imran Shahid 0300-9316450
