DigInfo - http://www.diginfo.tv Japan's largest comprehensive dog event, the Japan Dog Festival 2008, was held at the Big Sight International Exhibition Center in Odaiba. During the event, various competitions were held including the Agility JKC Cup and the Flyball JKC Cup. During the Agility JKC Cup, dogs compete to see how quickly and accurately they can maneuver a course filled with various obstacles. In the Flyball JKC Cup, dogs jump over hurdles, step on a pedal attached to the front of a box, catch the ball that flies out, and then return to the start position. During the Champion of Champions event, 500 dogs from 50 different breeds that have achieved superior results in past dog shows are gathered together to compete for the position of top dog, or in other words, the Champion of Champions. Dog shows have been held worldwide for over 100 years and have been held in Japan since 1950. The mission of the dog show is to "protect pure dog breeds for future generations", and the dog shows are held for the purpose of protecting, nurturing, and expanding purebred dogs and to familiarize people with pure dog breeds.
